ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - ENGLISH
Dr. Archita Banerjee, a PhD graduate from Banaras Hindu University, brings a rich blend of academic excellence and diverse professional experiences to her role as Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Banerjee served as a language and content editor for the NITI-Aayog Project at the Anthropological Survey of India, Head Office, Kolkata, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Her academic journey includes teaching engagements as part-time faculty at Mahila Mahavidyalaya, BHU, and Bangabasi Morning College, where she contributed significantly to the academic community.
Dr. Banerjee is recognized for her expertise as an ethnographer, conducting extensive fieldwork in the domain of folklore. She is actively involved as an executive member of the Centre for Folklore Studies and Research, where her contributions enrich scholarly discourse in folklore studies. Her teaching experience includes imparting translation skills to undergraduate students as part of the UGC programme at BHU. Dr. Banerjee has also collaborated with poets, assisting them in translating their works from Hindi to English, showcasing her proficiency in literary translation.
Her research and teaching interests encompass a wide spectrum, including Folklore Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Shakespearean Literature, 20th-century British Literature, Genre Fiction, and Bengal Cultural Studies. Dr. Banerjee's multidisciplinary approach and dedication to scholarly exploration make her a valued academician in the field of English literature and folklore studies.
