Dr. Priyanka Dutta, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata, is a distinguished scholar specializing in gender, labour, and development studies. With a PhD and ICSSR doctoral fellowship from ISEC Bangalore, her research has earned acclaim, including the M.N. Srinivas Memorial Award. Dr. Priyanka Dutta is an esteemed Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. With a rich academic background and a strong focus on gender, labour, and development studies, Dr. Dutta has garnered recognition for her outstanding contributions to sociological research and teaching.

A graduate of Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta, Dr. Dutta pursued her post-graduation in Sociology from Calcutta University and went on to complete her M.Phil. from the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK). She earned her PhD in Sociology with an ICSSR doctoral fellowship from the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, where her thesis received the prestigious M.N. Srinivas Memorial Award for the best PhD thesis in Sociology.

Dr. Dutta brings over a decade of research and teaching experience, having worked at renowned academic institutions and development organizations across India. Her career includes engagements with institutions such as St. Xavier’s University Kolkata, Rabindra Bharati University, Basanti Devi College, Department of Law at Calcutta University, Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS-Bangalore), IFMR, CUTS International, and IDSK. Her expertise as a qualitative sociologist is reflected in her comprehensive research portfolio and significant contributions to the field.

She has presented her research findings extensively at seminars and conferences both within India and abroad, highlighting her commitment to advancing sociological knowledge and addressing critical societal issues.
